Defibrillator training included in all EFAW and FAW courses from 31st December 2016

Defibrillators save lives.

The UK Resuscitation Council updated their CPR guidelines in October 2015 to include asking if an AED was available when dealing with someone who has had a cardiac arrest. The HSE have followed suit and from the 31st December 2016 all EFAW and FAW course will include training on the use of AEDs.

More and more organisations and public areas have a defibrillator so it is great news that even more people will be trained to use them. As an organisation you do not have to buy a defibrillator unless your first aid needs assessment shows a need for one.

Staff who hold a current EFAW or FAW certificate do not need to be re-trained or have additional training but the next time they renew their qualification they will receive AED training as standard.

If you came on a React First EFAW or FAW course in 2016 and would like some additional training  on how to use defibrillators we have some open courses running in London for you to attend at a heavily discounted rate. Just contact the office for details: info@reactfirst.co.uk
