Appointed Person

Course - Basic First Aid suitable for Appointed Persons – 4hrs

This half day (minimum 4hrs, ideally 6hrs) course covers the first aid needs of the Appointed Person in low risk workplaces such as offices, shops, and pubs, where a nominated person will deal with emergency incidents.  Participants learn essential lifesaving techniques. Certificates are valid for three years. 

No previous first aid experience is required to attend this course.

Course Content

  • Vital Signs – breathing, level of consciousness, temperature, colour
  • Incident Management – a systematic approach to managing first aid incidents
  • Airway Management – causes and treatment of unconscious collapse
  • Breathing Problems - choking
  • Circulation Problems – Internal bleeding, external bleeding and treatment for shock
  • Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) – Adult, heart attack, urban
  • Awareness of current regulations
  • Safe best practice

Revalidation
