Become a First Aid Trainer

Join the Team

First aid training can provide you with additional freelance work or you might want to run your own courses for your own clients, either way we'll be there to help you every step of the way.

All of our trainers are passionate and motivated people both in work and outside of work.  We nurture an ethos of professionalism and fun to ensure that all our trainers deliver the best first aid training possible.

Most of our trainers are already professionals in their chosen field who are looking to enlarge their work portfolio. Whether your interest lies in delivering one of our specialist Sport, Outdoor or Motorcycle course or HSE First Aid at Work we provide all the necessary training and support to get you started.

You would be delivering first aid courses certificated through ITC which is both a QCA Awarding Body and also and HSE approved provider.  This means that the courses you deliver will be some of the very few to provide qualifications recognised by both the HSE and the QCA.  All our courses provide certification which lasts for 3 years.  In addition to this you will benefit from the security, back up and credibility that comes from belonging to an established organisation.

How do i become a React First trainer?
You must attend one of our two day courses as a potential trainer during which the instructor will spend time at the end of each day to discuss our ethos, training methods and quality assurance that we expect all our trainers to have.  Once we are all happy that becoming a React First Trainer is right for you then you will attend a four day trainers course.

To attend a course as a potential trainer £50 will be added to the course fee and you must be available for up to an extra two hours at the end of Day 1.

The path to becoming a trainer is open to all, whatever your experience. Individuals with prior training and or medical experience may find that they move much faster through the process.

What happens on the four day trainers course?
React First combined with the ITC awarding body have over 10 years of experience in supporting and helping trainers develop. We provide an innovative First Aid Trainers course to develop your training skills and provide you with a variety of training methods, a set of resources including shemes of work and powerpoint presentations as well as access to the latest guidelines.

You receive your own comprehensive Trainers Pack and Logbook containing a CD of course images, teaching notes etc.

The four day trainers course costs £595

What happens after that?
After successful completion of this course all other training, support, advice, is FREE to the Trainer. You will join our join a coaching programme and be fully mentored on your way to becoming a trainer. As part of this programme you will shadow and work along side an experienced trainer, until every aspect of the course you wish to deliver has been taught under supervision and all new trainers are fully supported throughout until they can deliver a course confidently.

You will receive regular newsletters throughout the year and we offer regular development days for the Trainer to extend the range of courses that they can deliver.

Experienced trainers working as freelancers can earn up to £150 per day delivering React First courses.

If you want to deliver your own courses there is a candidate fee of £20 charges which covers all administration, manuals and certification costs.  What you charge for the course is up to you!

Do i need a 4 day FAW certificate to attend the trainers course?
You will need to have a valid FAW certificate before you can be signed off as a fully qualified trainer.  You do not need to have this qualification prior to starting the program.

The exception to this are Paramedics registered with the Health Professions Council who are exempt from the requirement to hold a valid FAW certificate.

Do i need to be a member of the Institute for Learning?
By October 2009 anyone delivering adult learning courses through a QCA awarding body will need to be members for the Institute for Learning.  If you are not already then you would need to attend a PTLLS (Preparing to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector) course.  This is an Adult Learning qualification which may be valuable to you in other areas of your career.  React First can offer special rates for our trainers attending and ITC PTLLS course.

I am interested, what should I do now?
Drop us an email at info@reactfirst.co.uk or give our Director of Training Charlie a call on 07973 266 178.  We're looking forward to hearing from you.

I am already a trainer but i would like to deliver ITC courses through React First what should i do?
You would need to attend a two day cross-over course after which, if we are all happy that this is the right path for you, then you would be invited to join our mentoring scheme.

You will receive your own comprehensive Trainers Pack and Logbook containing a CD of course images and teaching notes after which you would be observed delivering the course material.

We would expect that you advance more quickly through this mentoring period given your previous training experience.

The cross-over course costs £395.
